Alicante Golf, recognized as one of Spain’s top courses, is situated on San Juan Beach in Alicante, just a short distance from the city centre. Its generous fairways and quick greens offer a balance of playability and challenge, making it an excellent choice for both practice and competition.
The remarkable par 72, parkland course unfolds with a distinctive layout featuring 6 par 3’s, 6 par 4’s, and six par 5 holes. This unique arrangement ensures a dynamic and entertaining game, as no two consecutive holes share the same par during a round, offering abundant opportunities for birdies.
The 6,270 metre, 18-hole course was built in 1998 from a design by the legendary Severiano Ballesteros, who strategically incorporated five sizable lakes affecting 12 of the 18 holes, presenting an engaging challenge suitable for golfers of all skill levels.
The course underwent a substantial green reconstruction project from 2004 to 2008, culminating in the rebuilding of all 18 greens to enhance design and address aspects such as watering, drainage, landscaping, and contouring. Following the renovations, the course now boasts 18 pristine luxury greens, with the 18th hole’s new green providing a spectacular and dramatic conclusion visible from the Hotel Alicante Golf rooms.
The uncovering of a first-century BC Roman villa’s ruins on the 14th hole, adds an historical dimension to the course. Alicante Golf, characterised by its generous fairways and absence of blind strokes, stands as a noble expanse. The competition-level speed of its greens, a standout feature, complements the course’s overall impressive condition. In essence, Alicante Golf emerges as an urban oasis, offering a challenging golf experience and a visual feast for all who behold it.
The clubhouse is where you will find changing rooms equipped with a sauna, a gymnasium, Pro shop, reception area, clubroom, golf bag lockers, and rental services for buggies, clubs, and other sports equipment.
Additionally, the facilities boast a leisure area where visitors can watch TV, along with restaurants, bars, and cafeterias for added enjoyment.
