Located close to the small fishing village of Alvor near Portimao, the Alto Golf course is a great test for any golfer and features dog-legs, elevated greens and strategically placed bunkers. The par 5 sixteenth hole is considered to be one of the longest holes in European golf.

First inaugurated in 1991, the 18-hole Alto Golf course is currently operated by the Pestana Group and was the last course designed by famous golf course architect, Sir Henry Cotton.
The par 70, 5,432 metre parkland course features the 600-yard par 5, known as the “Sir Henry Challenge” and what a challenge it is!
The course tests players with low handicaps but also provides a pleasant game for golfers of only average ability.
Two gently sloping valleys with the front nine offering stunning views of the bay of Lagos and the back nine, set against rolling slopes, offer quite a test.
The elevated greens and rolling fairways test all and reward anyone who enjoys thinking about their game.
