El Chaparral Golf, Mijas Costa

El Chaparral Golf Course is most definitely one of the most popular golf courses here the Costa del Sol.

The course which was built in 1991, was designed by Malaga-born architect/designer Jose Gancedo Gomez, ‘Pepe’ to his friends, and the ‘Picasso of Golf’ to everyone in Malaga.

Gancedo’s ethos was to always design a course around its natural landscape and surroundings, and with El Chaparral he did just that, by respecting the natural shape of the terrain.

The 18-hole course is surrounded by a beautiful Mediterranean pine forest and is a part parkland, part woodland course. It has six par 3s, six par 4s, and six par 5s and whilst tight in some places, the longer holes generally allow you to open your shoulders to meet the challenge head-on.

Although not overly long at 5,469 meters, the course offers a wide variety of holes that are suitable for players of all levels. It is also recognised as having some of the widest and quickest greens in the area, so don’t be caught on the wrong side of the hole on too many occasions!

El Chaparral Golf Club is located in the sought-after area of Mijas Costa, just 700 metres from the beach.

Malaga – Costa del Sol Airport is only a 22-minute drive away, the party town of Marbella can be reached in 24 minutes, and the popular town of La Cala de Mijas, 8 minutes.

Marbella has many bars, restaurants, music bars, and nightclubs for you to enjoy and La Cala, although smaller still has an abundance of restaurants, shops, and bars for you to sample after a day on the golf course.

The Clubhouse

The Clubhouse was built using a typical Andalusian design and is home to the high-quality TreeTops restaurant, Bar, Golf Academy, Pro shop, and changing rooms.

TreeTops restaurant is open 365 days of the year and has an indoor dining room, a conference room and a large terrace where you can sit and relax before, or after your game while tasting the varied menu of breakfasts, snacks and Mediterranean specialities on offer.

The restaurant also caters for corporate meetings and private dinners can be arranged for a minimum of 15 people.

Golf Academy

Chaparral’s fantastic Black Iron Golf Academy has highly qualified golf professionals who are available to introduce you to the great world of golf.

The Academy has developed the exclusive and unique 7Methodology, which shapes the learning process in seven fundamental pillars.

The Academy always adapts the style of the lessons to the needs and level of each player, using a training process that relies on data management and the latest technology.

Private classes, group classes, intensive courses, clinics, and a children’s school are all available and you could even get the opportunity to play a round with the pros on the course.

The practice area includes a substantial 18-hole putting green, swing analysis, bunker area, and a wide driving range with natural grass, lighting and 40 tees, half of them are covered and distributed over two floors.

The Golf Academy welcomes players of all levels, from beginners to advanced players, who are looking to perfect their golfing technique.
