Miraflores Golf, Mijas Costa

First designed by legendary course architect Robert Trent Jones, Miraflores de la Riviera golf was opened to the public in 1990.

It was later re-designed and overseen by Folco Nardi, who sadly died before its completion.

The golf course is set up in the hills behind the Miraflores Golf Resort, in Riviera del Sol. Its elevated position gives you fantastic views of the countryside down to the Mediterranean Sea.

Miraflores is both a beautiful and challenging course, with elevated greens and water, and a re-design that brought with it many new interesting, and challenging holes.

Holes five and six need tee shots to clear the water and the eighth hole gives you spectacular views over the out-of-bounds countryside.

The fairway on the 570 metre 12th is divided by a lake and the water hazard on the 15th hole forms a protective moat around the green.

Riviera del Sol is only 28 minutes from Malaga – Costa del Sol airport, 18 minutes from the popular upmarket town of Marbella, and 14 minutes from the lively resort of Fuengirola.

Riviera itself has everything you need to enjoy your golfing holiday including many shops, bars, and restaurants serving Indian, Chinese, Italian, English, and of course local Spanish cuisine. The area also has a beautiful sandy beach and regular public transport, making it easy to visit other coastal towns without the need for a car.

The Clubhouse

The Miraflores Clubhouse offers a very warm welcome to everyone. The clubhouse is where you will find the following:

Miraflores Golf Bar and Restaurant

The Golf Bar and Restaurant serves delicious food and drink and holds regular events and entertainment. It also has a variety of spaces for private functions, events, parties, and meetings.

The Miraflores Bar & Restaurant is split in two. ‘Spikes Bar’ is a friendly open-air bar with a large terrace where you can sit and enjoy a hot drink with a bacon roll before you hit the golf course, or you can relax after your game with a well-earned beverage and selection of tasty meals from the bar menu.

Upstairs you will find the more formal restaurant, where you can enjoy live music, great Sunday lunches and exclusive wine-tasting events.

Golf Academy

The Golf Academy, known as Miraflores Sports Village, is located in a purpose-built building that was designed to offer members, visitors, and residents the opportunity to practice their golfing skills, no matter what level they play at.

The Driving Range

The driving range is a two-tiered practice area with 25 bays. Both tiers are undercover, giving you a very welcome break from the burning sun on hot days.

Three male professionals and one female professional are also on hand to help you with your game.

Lessons are also available at the driving range including group, individual, and junior. All levels are catered for from novices and beginners to low handicap players.

The Sports Village also has a Pro Golf Shop, Personal Training Centre, Sports Massage, and Hair and Beauty Salon.

Green Fees and Tee Times

Miraflores is a favourite of those looking to play some golf in the Costa del Sol while soaking up the warm Spanish sunshine.
