Situated on the Eastern Coast of the Algarve and nestled within the Ria Formosa Natural Park is the Quinta da Ria Resort which has breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean.
The Quinta da Ria golf course is one of two at the resort, the other being Quinta de Cima, both are 18-hole golf courses with unforgettable scenery.
Consisting of two sets of 9 holes featuring an engaging mix of pars, the 17th hole emerges as an iconic highlight, featuring a small island on the lake that now serves as a sanctuary for endangered rare birds.
With the sea on one side, and the mountains towering on the other, the setting for the Quinta da Ria golf course is spectacular. Designed by Rocky Roquemore and built in 2002 the par 72 Quinta da Ria golf course measures 6,053 metres and consists of five picturesque lakes dotted across the flat terrain, enhancing the challenge of the course.
Over 300 trees have been meticulously planted throughout the course, with strict regulations on construction to preserve the natural environment’s integrity. The standout features of the course are undoubtedly the 16th and 17th signature holes, intricately woven around the lakes, presenting a formidable challenge that can either elevate or hinder your round.
As you traverse this remarkable course, take a moment to immerse yourself in the diverse wildlife inhabiting this unique area, adding an extra layer of appreciation to your golfing experience.
The resort has also been home to the PGA Europro Tour in 2003 and 2004 / Portugal Algarve Seniors Open 2005, European Seniors Tour Qualifying / School in 2006, 2007, and 2008, Portugal Algarve Ladies Open 2008, BMW Golf Cup International 2008 and the Algarve Pro Golf Tour 2017.
Built in an old farmhouse, the Clubhouse of Quinta da Ria offers a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is the perfect place for a light snack before or after your game. But if you want more than just a snack, there is a large variety of Portuguese dishes on the menu that use fresh ingredients from local farmers, alongside burgers, salads, pizzas, and delicious desserts.
