Rio Real Golf

The Rio Real Golf Club and Hotel are situated in Marbella’s most exclusive location, a mere 5-minute drive from the city centre. The golf course offers wide tree-lined fairways that provide a series of stunning holes that range from the 4th, with its green by the Mediterranean Sea, to the 11th with its unforgettable tee position.

History

Inaugurated in 1965, the Rio Real golf course was designed by the legendary Javier Arana, who is considered the best Spanish designer of all time.

Characterised by its exceptional design, this parkland golf course boasts 18 holes with a par of 72, spanning over 6,000 metres. Recognised by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation as an emblematic course and among the finest in Spain, it stands out for its challenging layout and distinctive beauty. The landscape is adorned with a diverse array of trees, including pines, palm trees, casuarinas, olive trees, cypresses, and more, creating an ideal setting for golf enthusiasts to enjoy the sport, whether on foot or in golf carts.

Following the course alongside the Rio Real River, from which it draws its name, it seamlessly integrates with the surrounding landscape, extending to its convergence with the Mediterranean Sea.

The river is superbly brought into play on several holes without being overly intimidating.
