Course Information

San Roque Golf New Course

Located in a well-protected gated community, The San Roque Golf Club stands as a distinguished country club, conveniently positioned just a 10-minute drive away from the picturesque village of San Roque. The village is characterised by its steep narrow streets, whitewashed houses, museums, churches, and inviting local bars and restaurants, creating a vibrant and culturally rich atmosphere that complements the golfing experience.

History

The San Roque Golf Club is home to not one, but two courses. The 18-hole New Course, designed by Perry Dye and Seve Ballesteros, was opened in 2003 and is a perfect contrast to the Old Course. It is extremely different in design but presents the same challenges as its older brother. The New Course is undulating, precise, and often dramatic with a grand-scale parkland layout.

Home to the 2006 Spanish Open, the course sits in an elevated position with several deep grassy expanses. Although this means the course is exposed to the wind, it does, however, offer stunning views over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar, and Sotogrande.

The Course

The San Roque Golf New Course measures 6,497 metres and is a Par 72, with generally large greens that are often protected by spectacular mounds, and some sharply focused nests of bunkers.

This course is a serious challenge, even before your short game is tested, which it certainly will be.

After a demanding start, you may wish to avoid Seveโ€™s own tee for a spectacular downhill par 3 fourth hole, across a chasm. A penalty awaits anything short or left.

Clubhouse

A friendly welcome is given to everyone in the San Roque clubhouse. Here you will find the well-equipped pro shop, locker rooms, and a bar and restaurant area. Here, you can unwind and savour the experience of indoor or al fresco dining on the terrace.

Facilities

In addition to the impeccably maintained course, the San Roque Golf Club offers outstanding amenities. Whether indulging in lively conversations at the bar or savouring the culinary delights available in the restaurant, the facilities provide a warm and inviting environment for golf enthusiasts.
