Course Information

Santa Maria Golf

Set in a hilly location just outside of Marbella the Santa Marรญa Golf Club stands out as one of Marbella’s most exquisite and iconic courses. Nestled in a stunning setting, largely free of buildings, the 18-hole course is surrounded by lush pine and cork oak forests, creating a truly spectacular enclave.

The course also ranked 4th in our list of the best golf courses in Malaga. If you are looking to play some golf at the Santa Maria course, please check out our range of golf breaks in Malaga.

History

Built as a 9-hole course in 1991 by Antonio Garcia Garrido, the course expanded to a full 18 holes five years later. To navigate holes 7 to 13, golfers have to use a tunnel to cross to the new fairways on the other side of the Malaga-Cadiz motorway!

Architect Dave Thomas is reportedly involved in developing an additional 18-hole course, elevating the club’s status among the prominent golf destinations on the Costa.

Santa Maria is a parkland track extending 5,325 metres (par 70) in an out-and-back layout, with water features adding challenge to many holes. The highlight of the course is its five par threes, with four of them strategically placed on the back nine, resulting in shorter yardage on the inward half by around 500 yards compared to the front nine.
