Golf 4 U Spain Rating:
Key Features
The Parador de Málaga Golf course enjoys a prime position, situated in the heart of the Costa del Sol, just a short five-minute distance from the beach and a mere 10-minute drive from both Malaga City and the Malaga International Airport.
The golf course boasts a predominantly flat design, featuring broad fairways bordered by picturesque pine, palm, and olive trees.
Established in 1925, the Parador Malaga Golf Club stands as the oldest golf course on the Costa del Sol in Spain. The course was originally constructed as a 9-hole golf course under the technical supervision of Harry Shapland Colt, builder of the Wentworth golf course.
It was later extended to an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Simpson, the same architect who was responsible for the designs of Turnberry, Muirfield, and Ballybunion in Scotland.
Having hosted several tour events down the years, this unique course is part links, part woodland, and whilst not long by modern standards, big hitters will not ease their way around this course as position as opposed to length is often the order of the day. When the wind blows, this will play as tough as any links course. Keep an eye out for the parrots that have made these tree-lined fairways their home, and enjoy the hospitality of the clubhouse after your round amongst memorabilia, including that of course record holder Miguel Ángel Jiménez.
Years of history have made this golf course both challenging for experienced players and achievable for any golf enthusiast. Two of the holes run along the edge of the sea and sand dunes, palms, mimosas, eucalyptus, and pines skirt the golf course.
In addition to its impeccable course, the Parador de Malaga Golf offers great amenities.
Whether you’re chatting over a beer at the bar or sampling the exquisite Mediterranean cuisine on offer at one of the two restaurants, you will experience a warm welcome.
Facilities at the course include:
