Course Information

Golf Costa Adeje

Carved into a dramatic natural canyon just five kilometres from Playa de las Americas, Golf Costa Adeje is widely regarded as one of the most visually impressive golf courses in Tenerife. Designed by Pepe Gancedo – often called the “Picasso of Golf” – and opened in 1998, the 27-hole facility offers a main 18-hole championship course plus a nine-hole layout called Los Lagos, giving golfers flexible playing options throughout their stay.

The 18-hole championship course was built on a former banana plantation, and the design pays deliberate homage to that agricultural heritage. Original dry stone walls frame many of the holes, and the terraced topography that once served the plantation now creates natural elevation changes throughout the layout. The result is a course full of character, variety and visual drama, with spectacular views across the Atlantic to the island of La Gomera from the higher vantage points.

Los Lagos, the complementary nine-hole layout, provides a more relaxed option for morning or evening play and is ideal for those looking to warm up or wind down without committing to a full 18. The course enjoys around 320 days of sunshine per year and remains one of the most consistently popular choices among visiting golfers to the south of the island.

History

Golf Costa Adeje opened in 1998 as Tenerife’s golf offering was expanding rapidly to meet growing demand from the island’s thriving tourist sector. Pepe Gancedo brought his distinctive architectural philosophy to the project, creating a course that works with the natural landscape rather than against it. His decision to retain the old banana plantation’s terraced structure proved inspired, giving the course a sense of identity that sets it apart from many purpose-built layouts.

The addition of the Los Lagos nine-hole course provided flexibility for visitors and helped establish Golf Costa Adeje as a full-day destination rather than simply a round of golf. Since opening, the club has invested steadily in its practice facilities and clubhouse, making it one of the best-equipped golf venues in Tenerife.
