Golf Course Information
First designed by William Mitchell in 1974, the Quinta do Lago South course is regarded as one of the finest golf courses on the Algarve and a favourite among the European Tour players. The course has won various awards and played host to a number of professional golf tournaments including the Portuguese Open eight times from 1976 to 2001.
The course is situated in 2,000 acres of stunning countryside surrounded by pine forests, lakes and offers fantastic views of the neighbouring Ria Formosa National Park.
The South course is a par 72 and measures a total of 6,448 metres. The course is a good challenge for golfers of all abilities with the front 9 holes favouring a draw from the tee and the back nine a fade. You will need to be consistent off of the tee and drive well in order to hit the greens in regulation.
As the course is a part of the Quinta do Lago estate, you will also have the opportunity to play the two other neighbouring courses which are the North course and Laranjal. All of the Quinta do Lago courses featured in our recent blog post which revealed what we believe to be the Algarve’s 8 Best Golf Courses.
